Matthew Modine Saves the Alpacas
Written by Blair Singer
Directed by John Rando
Featuring Reggie De Leon, Mark Damon Espinoza, Mark Fite, Peri Gilpin, Matthew Modine, Edward Padilla & French Stewart
September 8 – October 18, 2009
Matthew Modine stars as Matthew Modine in Matthew Modine Saves the Alpacas, the world premiere of this rollicking satire that parodies celebrity humanitarianism, Hollywood and hand sanitizer. Eighties heartthrob Matthew Modine was ‘A-List’ all the way. But now, a couple decades later, he’s not on any lists. He needs to get back in the limelight – he needs … a Cause.
With the help of uber-publicist Whimberly North, Matthew channels his talents toward the common good and heads off to a small South American village to meet the Chimborazzi tribe and save their alpacas. Now, if only there wasn’t so much dirt in Ecuador…
Please note: this play is for mature audiences.
“French Stewart gives the performance of a lifetime. He’ll have you rolling in the aisles with laughter.”
- French Stewart
“By far the most brilliant play I’ve ever written. It’s the only play ever written, but my mother thinks it’s brilliant.”
- Blair Singer
“Only Matthew Modine could play this part. No, seriously, he’s the only one.”
- Peri Gilpin
“This is the type of play that audiences were made for!”
- Matthew Modine
“This cast is by far the most recent cast that I’ve directed, and I can unequivocally say that Blair Singer is the most talented playwright I’ve worked with on this project.”
- John Rando
